To visit and provide companionship and emotional support to someone who has had a terminal diagnosis and their loved ones. 

The support can include helping them to find further support, taking them out to give them a break from their four walls, providing some practical support to help them with tasks they are struggling with e.g. putting a duvet cover on; making phone calls etc., providing respite support to give the carer a break from their caring role.

A minimum of 3 hours per week with a commitment of at least 12 months

We need to make sure that all of our volunteers have the information and training they need to carry out their roles safely and effectively. You’ll have an induction when you start and we’ll make sure you get any training the role needs, with refreshers when necessary. 

Wellington orbit are looking for Cinema Steward volunteers.

Role:

- Checking tickets

- Escorting people to seats

- Helping in servery as required

- Using a App on a Tablet to scan tickets

- Talking to customers

- Upselling what we are and have here

Cinema Steward shifts are around 1 hour around the start of the performance times so

11 am show will be 10.30 – 11.30

2.30pm show will be 2.00 – 3.00

7pm show will be 6.30 - 7.30

5 days a week but we will be increasing to 7 day screenings at the end of September 2021

No training is needed prior to starting but an interview and a trial shift would be required.

Meeting Point House is owned by Meeting Point Trust Ltd, an independent registered charity.

Meeting Point House supports 12 local charities with office accommodation, provides meeting rooms with a capacity of 2 - 100 and is also home to the Hummingbird cafe.

We are looking to strengthen our Board by adding additional Trustees.  Applications are open to all, however, we would be very interested to meet anybody that has a background working within finance or has experience within the voluntary or charitable sector.

What you will be doing:

As a Trustee you will help develop and set the strategic aims, objectives, and direction of the charity. The skills and knowledge you bring will enhance the Board and support the Trust.

Trustees can be active in the business and delivery of events.  They can participate in the daily activities that take place inside Meeting Point House, such as assisting in the Hummingbird Café, being a friendly, welcoming face at reception, lending a helpful hand in our maintenance department or helping with admin tasks.  Likewise Trustees can play a more strategic and guiding role.  All have something to offer the Trust.

Our Board of Trustees meet formally 4 times a year.  Meetings take place on a midweek day, either mornings or afternoons and last for approximately 60 - 90 minutes. 

The daily operation of Meeting Point House falls under our CEO and the team who welcome any additional involvement/input from the Trustee's.

In return we offer a range of training courses ranging from Food Safety, Compliance, First Aid and Safeguarding to name but a few.

The Witness Service provides practical and emotional support and information to witnesses, so that they feel valued, respected and informed and able to give their best evidence in court. 

What will you do?

You will be directly supporting witnesses (and their friends and families) through the experience of attending court.

You will be based at court to give them practical information about the process, as well as emotional support to help witnesses feel more confident about giving evidence. 

As a Witness Service court-based Volunteer you will be asked to…

Give witnesses and their supporters emotional support, guidance, and information at court (e.g. explain court procedures and legal terms, support them with completing expense forms).

Show witnesses and others around the courtroom before a trial so they are familiar and at ease in the environment (in courts outside London only

Carry out the paperwork necessary to record and evaluate our work.

Go into the courtroom with a witness on trial day if permitted.

Identify additional support to which we can signpost or refer witnesses.

Work as part of a team with other Witness Service volunteers and staff as well as liaising with court personnel.

Attend more than one court in your area when necessary.

How much time do you need to give?

It can take around 3 months to become fully accredited as a Witness Service Volunteer. The expectation is that you can volunteer for a minimum of 12 months after you have completed your training. 

We will ask you can offer a minimum of one day per week at court where you will usually be needed from 9am-5pm. This would be agreed between you and your Team Leader, and we welcome requests for flexible arrangements. 

You would also be invited to and expected to attend - ongoing training, volunteer meetings and regular one-to-one support sessions, which are typically held every quarter.
